WORLD CLASS RUGBY CENTRE VISITS WORLD CLASS RETAIL CENTRE
Gordon Darcy Ireland’s centre half visited Athlone Towncentre this morning signed Jersey’s and rugby balls at the centre. The visit came on the morning of the Ireland v Scottish U20 match to be staged at Athlone’s Dubarry Park.

As part of arguably the best centre partnership in the world alongside Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon D'Arcy has become a vital cog in the Irish team over the past number of seasons, but unfortunately suffered an arm injury in the past month during the Italy match. Gordon advised that he is currently getting physiotherapy and is back training.
The centre’s Commercial Director Gerry Mulcahy stated that he was delighted with the warm reception Gordon received. Hundreds of rugby fans turned out for the event. Mr. Mulcahy went on to state that one of the key strengths of the centre is it’s sports / Leisurewear offering which includes Elverys/JD Sport/ Best/Next & M&S . Sport enthusiasts can also avail from a huge array of sporting DVDs, Books, Computer games from Zavvi, Eason and Game.
Mr. Mulcahy further confirmed “The Centre enjoys footfall of 100,000 shoppers per week and has raised shoppers expectations to new levels of style, comfort, design and ambience”.
Athlone is now one of the largest retail towns in the country with only Dublin, Cork and Belfast ranking above it in terms of provision of retail offering. |
